Local Health Integration Networks should be "scrapped," said Andrea Horwath.
Because the LHINs, she said, are really just unelected, unaccountable organizations that give the provincial government something to hide behind as they continue to cut services at hospitals across Ontario.

During her whirlwind tour of Northwestern Ontario, the provincial NDP leadership hopeful emphasized there's no need for scabs or temps, and we need to do more to help organize workers and raise the minimum wage.

Ontario NDP leadership hopeful Andrea Horwath dropped by Fort Frances early yesterday afternoon to meet with local party members.
Horwath, the MPP for Hamilton Centre, has been campaigning across the province to replace current leader and local MPP Howard Hampton next month.

THUNDER BAY - Ontario NDP leadership candidate, Andrea Horwath, said the jobs crisis in Northwestern Ontario could have been averted and can still be turned around. "McGuinty's lack of action for the Northwest has allowed the loss of thousands of jobs. Northerwestern workers can be back on the job with made-in-Ontario policies," Horwath said.

Hamilton Centre MPP Andrea Horwath has scored another prominent endorsement for her leadership bid. Welland MP Malcolm Allen, who defeated Liberal MP John Maloney in last year's federal election, announced yesterday he is backing Horwath to replace Howard Hampton at the March 6 -8 convention in Hamilton. Horwath also has the backing of Welland MPP Peter Kormos.

Steelworkers district director endorses NDP leader wannabe

Wayne Fraser, the elected director of District 6 of the United Steelworkers, representing more than 80,000 Ontario workers, announced his support for Horwath's campaign for change today from Sudbury.
"I'm supporting Andrea Horwath as an Ontarian, a Northerner, a New Democrat and a Steelworker," Fraser said. "Andrea's not just a dynamic new face; she's the strong, capable and determined leader we need in the tough times ahead."

Kormos backs Horwath February 7, 2009
Former cabinet minister and caucus stalwart Peter Kormos yesterday announced he was backing the 45-year-old Hamilton-Centre MPP to replace outgoing leader Howard Hampton
"She's demonstrated herself to be tenacious, fiery, passionate and well-researched when it comes to her work in the House," Kormos said. "We need Andrea's youthful energy and her commitment for the long term."
